A day out on the Norfolk Broads

Hayzel decided to take the kids and I out to the Broads today.   We had a bit of a walk about to find where we actually were supposed to pay and get on the boat and ended up taking the 3pm trip. We explored a Wherry boat, that had belonged to the Colman's (the Mustard people) and watched a demonstration of how they lower the mast on these boats.   Then we boarded the Electric Eel and went out for our punt about, it was a lovely time of day when the light is all golden.  We went out to a bird hide with our knowledgeable guide and one other family who were from Yorkshire.  It was a really nice day out on the water and our first taster as to what it's like to be on a boat on the Norfolk Broads.  On the way home we surprised a white Peacock and her chicks crossing the road.

Ewan's 10th birthday!

He had his birthday on one of the hottest days of this year so far.  Almost 33 at one point.  Needless to say, we all ended up in the garden, which is where he opened his presents from Andrew, Leigh and the boys, as well as from Dave and Mags.   Hayzel and Kevin had already given him his present in the morning - a really awesome Nerf gun, as well the Avengers End Game Lego set (Compound battle).  from granny and Grandpa in South Africa he got Spiderman Far from Home (Molten man battle) Lego set.   I got him Avengers Infinity war (Thor's weapon quest Lego  and Minecraft books).  Faye got him a Roald Dahl treasury of stories.   He received money from his aunties and uncle in Wales, as well as money and loads of sweets from his friends.   I made him a Minecraft Creeper cake.. some photos and a little video of his completed Lego projects (all taken with my phone this time)

Yep, Ewan is a lucky boy.  He got G&M gloves and pads from Andrew, Leigh and the boys and G&M bat and cricket ball from Dave - so he's all set for next season now.

Dave's cricket debut for Hethersett and Tas Valley CC - an away game at Ashby St. Mary

Nice ground, if you can find it!   Luckily we left early - I drove Dave and stayed for the whole match and took him home.  Andrew, Leigh and the boys went with us but left just before Dave went in to bat.  It was a 40 overs a side game and took a lo-o-ong time to finish - from 1.30 ish until 7.30 ... yep.   Dave got 6 runs I think and he got a wicket, I was pleased with his debut considering he didn't have his own gear and bat, plus he's got a broken toe, a bit of 'flu and a sore back from a skin infection he got in South Africa.  Anyhoo, these are my photos.
