There was a couple walking around with the owner, who were originally from Kenya (and
RHODESIA as the old bloke kept saying ... dumb ass colonialist). I didn't hear him but Faye said that this old bloke (who used to work with Prof Phillip Tobias at Wits) said that 'this must be a bit of a rip off for people coming from Africa.' Er .. I had to agree. Shorelands is prettily set out, the gardens are gorgeous, everything is clean and the animals look well cared for but it was not worth the 10 pound entrance fee (myself and the two kids) - we were only there for about 50 minutes. There is a Waveney Art Gallery inside the entrance building featuring local artists' work ... I felt that most of the stuff on display was below par and very amateurish, also priced quite high. I took a few photos for reference.

The kids squinting again into the Norfolk sunlight ... we need to get these two RayBan sunglasses! |
Cranes, Herons, Ducks, Geese wander around amongst the paying punters.
I was lead to believe from the website that we would be able to wander around amongst the Alpacas but nope, they are in an enclosure with Rheas, Turkeys and more ducks/geese.
A pair of little deer huddling together in their enclosure. There are Marmoset monkeys but only three in a very small cage, I've seen more Marmosets at Golden Rod Nursery on Long Road in Putfontein whenever we've gone to buy plants for the garden.
This picture was just over A4 in size and they wanted 175 pounds for it ... the sides aren't even finished off properly!
The photos of the alpacas is awesome, with the white and then the mundty alpaca almost like a camera fault.
